Today In The NHL

Written By: Adam Wible

With the hockey season in full swing and the Holiday week upon us, there are some marquee games starting tonight.

The top two teams in the east square off at the TD Bank Garden, featuring NHL leading point getter Sydney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins versus the seasoned veteran Tuukka Rask and the Boston Bruins.

While over the border, the defending Champion Blackhawks take on the last place Edmonton Oilers.  The Blackhawks are favored (-1.5) but the Oilers always play them close losing 5-4 earlier this year in Chicago.

Staying over the border the west coast late game is the one worth staying up and watching if you watch one game tonight (for our east coast followers).  Anze Kopitar and the Los Angeles Kings look to stay hot (6-1-3 in their last 10 games) against the Sedin brothers and the Vancouver Canucks.

With the loss of Jonathan Quick, the kings looked to Ben Scrivens and he sure has stepped up.  Scrivens leads the league in GAA (Goals Against Average) and has shown he can handle the pressure by also leading in shootout wins (3).  Its play like this that keeps the Kings as contenders even without one the best goaltenders in the world.

My Picks: Penguins 3-2, Chicago 4-3, and Los Angeles 4-2
