Carmelo Anthony, strong forward of the New York Knicks, is one of the few superstars in the NBA. Behind Kevin Durant, he is the second best offensive weapon in the league. Melo can score from anywhere on the court. But that’s not all he does, he grabs a good amount of rebounds and dishes out assists when he finds the open player. The only downside is that he has no championship rings to help anchor his career. The talk of the basketball world is, “Will Carmelo Anthony stay in New York?”
Carmelo should leave New York, but he will have to take a pay cut if does decides to leave. If he wants a chance to win a ring he will have to join another team with another superstar or a team with a strong starting five. The Knicks have talent but just not enough. JR Smith, and Tyson Chandler are the only other players on the Knicks that are able to produce decent numbers. But they aren’t enough to help Melo or the Knicks win a ring.
Amare Stoudemire signed a 5 year 100 million dollar contract in 2010. New York is regretting that deal now since he has missed 92 games in 3 seasons. If the Knicks would have passed on Amare they could have had money to help sign other stars to play along with Melo. For example they could have signed Tyreke Evans, Al Jefferson, Paul Milsap, or even Goran Dragic. Amare will make 23 million dollars next season as he is only averaging 9.6 points and 4.3 rebounds this season.
Carmelo is averaging 28.9 points per game this season. He delivers in the clutch, gets the crowd to their feet with highlight layups, unbelievable dunks and great post up moves. He can score at anytime and when he gets hot it is hard to stop him from scoring.
The Chicago Bulls are a strong contender in the Carmelo sweepstakes this offseason. They are having a bad season with an injury prone D Rose. Carmelo to the Bulls would make a lot of sence because he could take some of the work load off of Rose.
