Xabi Alonso Headed to EPL?

It has been reported the Premier League giants, Chelsea and Manchester United, are in the race to win the signature on a pre-contract of Real Madrid’s , Xabi Alonso. The Spanish CenterDefensive Midfielder who arrived from Liverpool for 30 million euros in 2009, has proven to be a valuable asset to the Real Madrid midfield.

Reports have it that Xabi Alonso’s contract with Real Madrid is set to expire in June of 2014, and he still hasn’t agreed with Real Madrid on a new contract. Real Madrid’s lack of negotiating a new contract with the Spanish midfielder has cause a lineup of top clubs readying to try to snatch the Real Madrid star away from the Bernabeu.

Carlo Ancelloti has stated to other clubs that Xabi Alonso is still a “vital player” for the club. Speculation around Alonso staying at the Bernabeu has increased since the news of  fellow German teammate, Sami Khedira is likely to miss the rest of te season and possibly the 2014 World Cup due to having surgery on an ACL tear. That injury will show just how much of an  importantant asset Alonso is to Real Madrid’s Midfield.

Reports also have it that Real Madrid are willing to meet Alonso’s contract demands which is around another two years of his services with an annual wage of 4.2 million euros. Alonso’s importanc hasn’t been any more clearer since his return from injury. With his return, the midfielder has has helped Los Blancos net 15 goals in three of La Liga fixtures. Do Los Blancos need his talents more than ever?
