The Edmonton Oilers made some news today, with trades that sent former 1st round pick goalie Devan Dubnyk to the Nashville Predators for forward Matt Hendricks.

Dubnyk’s record this season is 11-19-5 with 3.36 goals against average. This move saves the Oilers a lot of cap room for the Predators, they need a backup goalie for Pekka Rinne.

Shortly after that trade went through, the Oilers then traded a 3rd round pick to the Los Angeles Kings for goaltender Ben Scrivens. Scrivens will challenge Ilya Bryzgalov, he is a goalie that is capable of being a number one. Scrivens had been pretty good for the Kings when Jonathan Quick was out due to an injury before they called Martin Jones to the roster. For the Kings, they just had to trade Scrivens since Martin Jones had been outperforming him.

In other news around the league.
